The good news is once you know these factors, specifically zed type affliction vulnerabilities and affliction application cooldown timings, you can absolutely destroy zeds as Surv, with certain weapon combos offering 1 hit ko’s on 6man HoE for different zed types. Effectiveness on elements is also reduced by 80% if the zed is blocking. Different zeds have different afflictions vulnerabilities, and different cooldowns for each affliction type to be reapplied.Types such as knockdown afflictions, stun and bash are highest priority. The order in which different afflictions take priority, as in different effects take place, for example if two afflictions are hitting a zed, the one that is higher on the list of afflictions applications will be applied. These element types can be used to manipulate how the zeds behave to push larges into predictable movement patterns for fast large takedowns. with quite a few more sub effects that take place for certain element types. (Poison, fire, Electricity, Freezing etc. Very valuable information on doing this is knowing a few key factors. Just good all around, since Survivalist is a gap filler.Ī Surv can be a master of afflictions, which I would consider one of his greatest strengths, because they can use any weapon and apply combinations of status effects to not only aid the team but also matching enemy weaknesses to quickly subdue and kill enemy types by matching their vulnerabilities to corresponding weapon types and survivalist perk skill synergies. Ample heals, messes with zeds, stacks with melee expert's speed. Not great for bossing, but very nice if you have to babysit.Īssuming the weight is the same, this is just too handy if you don't get the SMG. Gives the Survivalist a little niche by being able to setup big kills and deal with trash if they have decent trigger discipline. Very nice if you lack trash cleaners for some reason. The other perks that could use this rifle have better options, meanwhile you can use both ammo types decently. Maybe pair it with a.XBow or another economic power weapon. Most paranoid players try to slide a MedPistol in, but your recharge makes you better at backup healing. Very good at dealing with trash and keeping a budget. Weapon swap really helped the perk, but it's stuck in a odd place when most will roll Medic+HVT-Killer. You shouldn't grab an RPG if you have tons of heavy hitters already, for example. I think it's fair to say that none of the weapon combos listed should include firebug weapons, due to the Survivalist having no perk skills that augment any of the fire-based weapons, but otherwise, I'm interested in seeing what luck you've all had making this often unappreciated perk work.įrankly, Survivalist is somewhat more team dependent because it does much better when you don't overlap on teammates. That's not even all the things they can choose from, and having some healing ability is an option, but then of course you need to start making sacrifices.Īs such, I'm curious as to what specific combinations of weapons and perk skill combinations you have found that use the survivalists versatility to its upmost potential, and doesn't end up simply being an inferior version of what another perk is capable of, like people who try to run Survivalist with only shotguns and then say that Support is better than the Survivalist. What other perk can give you extra carrying capacity, faster movement speed+melee damage, faster reloads with basically half of the in game weapons at a time, faster weapon switching, more damage for literally everything, bigger explosions, and extra tankiness in both armor and HP, all at the same time? None, that's what. Survivalists get a variety of benefits together that other perks do not. However, a big flaw many people make is taking the same weapon loadouts that they would for other perks, expecting similar results, which is rather silly. The Survivalist perk often gets a lot of hate for being a perk that doesn't specialize in any one area, meaning that when compared to the other perks, it comes up short when it comes to being effective in certain situations, especially in a varied team trying to fill in specialty gaps. This is just sort of how I feel based on what I've read, and to give more info as to where I'm coming from when asking this. Note: I am no expert in KF2 by any means, and am not someone who plays Survivalist.
